Discerning Wood Values
The terms width and thickness are interchangeable depending on your perspective. To simplify this, we have adopted the following conventions on the ordering of sizes. The following order of dimensions is consistently followed at Michigan Chair Company. There are no exceptions.

They are always in the following order: A x B x C The length is seldom misunderstood. "C" is referred to as the “bending” dimension The "C"dimension can be larger than the "B" dimension, but when too far out of proportion, the steamed part fails by rolling over. How much larger also depends on the curve to be bent. We often refer to this as bending the “hard way”. If you would like to retain this and order parts using this convention, we will always be on the same page.
